Andrew Parks is a Colorado native. He began his study of natural medicine at Metropolitan State University of Denver, and went on to earn a Master of Science in Oriental (East Asian) Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
Andrew continues to deepen and broaden his training while maintaining an active practice: he undertakes continuing coursework through the Institute of Classics in East Asian Medicine, and has worked closely with his colleague Benjamin Hawes, LAc, MAOM, Dipl. OM to learn Hawes's Backupuncture® approach. Before moving to Cortez in 2020, Andrew worked with the city of Wheat Ridge’s wellness program and at Meeting Point Acupuncture community clinic in Denver.
Andrew believes in an anatomy-based approach to acupuncture, combining body topography and myofascial pathways. He utilizes classical point location, Master Tung distal points, and Dr. Zhu’s scalp acupuncture. Additionally, Andrew has studied qigong extensively with Dr. Heiner Fruehauf at NUMN, and in China under Wang Quingyu and Liu Lihoung.
