The purpose of the Dolores Public Library is to provide an environment that encourages reading by all groups. The Library’s role is to provide resources to assist in the community’s pursuit of educational objectives, intellectual and emotional growth, the enjoyment of leisure time, and the solutions to everyday problems.
The vision of the Dolores Public Library is to provide an attractive and accessible building with space for resources, staff, and users, and where an environment of friendly and helpful personnel are available to assist the public in accessing information.
Code of Service
The Dolores Public Library District believes that the public is entitled to easily accessible library collections in a safe, clean, organized, and appropriate environment staffed with friendly, courteous people. Each patron is to be welcomed, fairly and courteously, without discrimination. Service to the public takes precedence over the Library’s internal processes (paperwork and communications). Information given to Library patrons will be based on verifiable, current sources, clearly communicated, and given in a timely manner.
Strategic Plan April 2014-March 2016
The strategic plan for the Dolores Public Library was developed with Library Board and Library staff input. It covers a two year period. Progress reports on plan implementation will be provided every two months by the Library Director. Achieving the strategic plan will be a cooperative effort between the Library Board and Library staff. There are six major goals in the strategic plan which cover the main aspects of library function and services. The plan was presented to the Library Board in March 2014 and approved in April 2014. Copies are available at the Dolores Public Library for the general public. Strategic Plan Final
